於本屆東京車展中，HONDA汽車以新世代小車平台發展而來的新車 – Model X，由於受到車展熱烈回應，HONDA汽車經過市場調查評估後，決定在本次北美車展中，宣佈一年後進行量產化及銷售相關事宜。
此次北美車展所展出的Model X，其外型應與一年後的量產車型相去不遠，現今日本小車自SUZUKI Wagon R後，已逐漸朝向方正車體的奇特設計，陸續跟進的有DAIHATSU Naked、TOYOTA bB等，而Model X此潮流下的產物。方正的外型乍看雖不討喜，但久而久之會發覺—還頗耐看的咧！！令人驚喜的是，無B柱式的對開式車門在量產版本上將會保留下來，這項設計不僅讓乘客方便上下車，也增添不少額外空間；Model X在內裝的擺設上，也量身為追求時髦的年輕人設計（LKK不要來！），除了擁有鮮艷的內裝顏色外，在空間運用上，也符合年輕人注重戶外休閒活動的需求，後方座椅可任意角度折疊及躺平，方便放置較大物品，甚至可將座椅拆卸下來。另外，還可與平整的車室底盤設計配合下，搖身一變為寬敞無比的車床，能與情人共同享受私人獨立空間。
