向來僅開發前驅車著稱的HONDA，這下也耐不住寂寞，準備要開發FR後輪驅動車，和歐洲雙B一較高下看誰功力高。
HONDA在底盤與引擎動力上的成就，一直以來都是日本高性能的代表，但令人遺憾的是，這家FF功力絕對是一等一的車廠，在1963年推出S500的FR小跑車，1990年代的採用MR驅動的NSX和Beat後，幾乎都致力於FF的開發，甚至頂級旗艦Legend，也是以FF為基礎的SH-AWD，雖然前驅車比較好開，但卻失去真正的駕馭樂趣，因此HONDA已經開始著手開發FR專用底盤與車種，據了解應該是下一代的ACURA RL，也就是掛上H廠徽的Legend；當然還有一說是搭載V10引擎的高性能跑車。
為了顧及便利駕駛，HONDA的FF設計功力相當了得，不僅兼顧到一般駕駛人的習性，也能提供優異的操控性，然而FF再如何厲害，實在無法取代FR，當然也因此失去許多愛好者的青睞，有鑑於此，HONDA已著手進行FR底盤和車型的開發動作，預計在2010年之前會和消費者見面，而Prototype則是2009年洛杉磯車展的重頭戲。
一旦HONDA開發出FR車款，並獲得市場熱烈迴響的話，以這家車廠向來的作為，勢必會將這種底盤結構延伸至一般乘用車，搞不好下一代Civic、Accord都會是FR而不是FF呢！
