讓行人安全獲保障，HONDA第三代POLARDummy誕生

很早已前車廠在進行撞擊測試時，坐在座艙內擔任測試的多為真人或者屍體，「死傷慘重」不在話下，隨著技術越來越進步，Dummy替代假人就成為最佳犧牲者；而HONDA自行開發的Dummy-POLAR系列，如今已發展到第三代，此乃針對SUV與Minivan所推出的行人撞擊仕樣。
當所有車廠都著重在車室乘員安全時，HONDA就已經替行人安全作準備，1998年為了降低車輛撞擊行人時的安全性，首度開發出對應測試的Dummy-POLAR I，2000年則進化為更接近人體的POLAR II，於頭部、頸部等共計八處增加偵測器，但POLAR II是以一般房車為基準，時隔八年後HONDA再度開發第三代POLAR III，這回可是衝著SUV與Minivan而來。
基於SUV和Minivan的佔有率越來越高，第三代Dummy POLAR III，其上半身基礎與POLAR II完全相同，改良重點在於腰部、骨盤、大小腿等人體結構進行提升，且根據一般車禍分析，行人的膝蓋韌帶部分多受嚴重傷害，因此HONDA也增加膝蓋韌帶的感應，以讓POLAR III更接近實際人體，並藉由撞擊測試中獲得更精確的數據，希望設計出更安全且對行人更有保障的車體結構與配備。
幸好有了Dummy，否則車廠可能要徵求勇夫擔任犧牲者了！
