隸屬於日本HONDA旗下專事太陽能電池製造銷售的HONDA SOLTEC，不僅成功推出家用太陽能電池，現在更將太陽能電池的觸角伸至公共建設與諸多產業，也就是說未來除了交通工具以外，只要是太陽能發電有關的設備都可看到「HONDA」字樣。
早在2007年10月，HONDA SOLTEC已經將太陽能電池推廣到一般住宅，然而因售價低廉且效果不錯，因而在更多顧客的需求下，遂決定擴大銷售範圍，以供應日本國內高用電量的公共建設與產業工廠使用。
由HONDA自行開發的太陽能電池，其薄膜是以CIGS（Copper/銅、Indium/銦、Gallium/鎵、Selenium/硒）化合物為材質，在製造過程中不僅將對環境污染降至最低，且耐用性與輸出功率比起以往的太陽能電池高，對消費市場來說可節省不少成本費用。而既然有太陽能電池科技，HONDA當然會率先使用，如今年才重新裝潢、位於茨城縣的HONDA CARS水戶勝田北店，就使用可供應9KW的系統，供應該展示中心的照明，並省下許多的電費。
一但能將太陽能電池推廣並普及化，價格上必定會以量制價變得更低廉，雖然目前國際原油價格持續下滑，然而在技術越來越成熟情況下，替代性能源必將會是未來的趨勢，這也是何以HONDA會成立HONDA SOLTEC的緣故。
