雖然全球汽車市場進入空前黑暗期，但四大金磚之一的印度卻被不少車廠列為主戰場，像SUZUKI、NISSAN等都紛紛大筆投資，開發針對當地中產階級需求的小型車，HONDA也首度在印度推出1.2升級距的小型車，也就是Fit，不過車名卻改成與歐洲相同的Jazz。
雖然TATA Nano主打低價策略，專攻二輪機車族市場，但要和市場佔有率最高的MARUTI SUZUKI抗衡，沒有引人之處的產品通常是鍛羽而歸，因此HONDA決定導入Jazz（歐洲名稱，也就是Fit）在印度生產販售，同時因應印度在2006年3月實施的小型車降稅優惠制度，遂搭載針對當地市場所開發的1.2升直列四缸i-VTEC引擎。
HONDA之所以願意在不景氣年代投資印度，乃印度自從實施降稅優惠制度後排氣量1.2升以下車款銷售激增，在餅被作大後自然有不錯的商機，使得HONDA願意針對環境需求開發新引擎。但Jazz進入印度後將和SUZUKI A-Star等對手正面交鋒，爾後還有NISSAN新March，看來一場同胞相戰將在印度展開。
於6月10日在新德里正式發表的Jazz，因售價高達69.8萬盧比（約新台幣50萬元），故銷售目標鎖定都會地區的中產階級，因此從6月11日起將在印度10個城市進行銷售。
