在先前曾宣布將在2010年1月於印度舉辦的德里車展中，正式發表最全新設計世界戰略概念小車的HONDA，就AutoNet所獲得的獨家消息顯示，這款小型車開發代號為2CV，並和日本專屬輕型車採用相同的底盤平台。
基於NISSAN March後繼車將在台灣、印度、泰國、中國生產，並從泰國或者印度回銷到日本以降低成本，HONDA也決定針對印度、中南美和東亞國協等市場開發出全新入門小型車，且將之定位成世界戰略車，從2011年4月起在印度、泰國和英國陸續生產，廠區開發代號名為2CV（這和法國CITROEN的2CV可不同）。
根據瞭解HONDA 2CV雖然是以日本市場的輕型車底盤為基礎，但車型定位上比起輕型車要高一階，且為了顧及乘坐舒適性，軸距將會比輕型車更長，車身尺碼約為3700×1680×1550mm，動力部分初步規劃將搭載1.0L直列四缸汽油引擎，但也有可能會採用直列三缸，還有可能針對歐規版的2CV推出柴油引擎。
所以接下來2CV的雛形會先在2010年德里車展現身，不過這僅是概念版本，隨後在同年6月起進行泰國版試作，印度版為9月試作，英國歐洲版則為2011年1月，至於中國會不會導入，以目前當地民眾的購車行為及市場觀察，應該不會！畢竟這種入門車仍是自主品牌的天下！
