1999年創立的HMSI（HONDA Motorcycle & Scooter India Ltd.），是HONDA為了在印度市場銷售與製造機車所成立的公司，雖然在2001年才真正生產，至今卻也拿下當地1/8的佔有率，有鑑於需求量增加快速，HONDA決定在印度興建第二座工廠，來應付消費者的需要。

Activa

HMSI目前的IMT Manesar產能為125萬輛，2010年底為因應需求必需提升至155萬輛，2011年則以160萬輛為目標，不過卻仍無法滿足市場端需求，因此HONDA決定興建第二座工廠。HMSI的第二座生產基地位於原本IMT Manesar廠約40公里、離德里市中心約90公里的Rajasthan省Tapukara工業區，所取得的土地為24萬平方公尺，預計2011年下半年開始運作，年產能為60萬輛。所以在2011年起整個HMSI年產能可達220萬輛規模。當然第二座工廠的設立也造就不少就業機會，預計啟動運作後將雇用2,000名作業員，不過總投資金額可不低，約47億盧比，也就是新台幣33億元。

在全球機車市場中，中國規模首屈一指，緊接在後的是印度，2009年印度機車總銷售量高達878萬輛，比起去年同期大幅成長19﹪，其中1999年8月成立、2001年開始生產的HMSI就銷售109萬輛，和2008年相比增加了11﹪，創下連續9年的成長，正因為有這般基礎，才讓HONDA願意在印度做大手筆的建廠投資。
