就在市場上傳聞滿天飛之後，東風本田日前正式宣佈，將在中國建立第二家整車廠，以滿足當地市場不斷提升的消費需求。
目前東風本田旗下所生產的國產化乘用車產品，包括東風本田思域Civic、CR-V與思鉑睿Spirior運動豪華房車等等產品。
東風本田日前正式宣佈，即將建立的東風本田第二整車工廠，將與現有的一廠同樣位於湖北省武漢市武漢經濟技術開發區，兩者地理上相距4km，總佔地面積達到一百萬平方公尺，第二工廠整車設計年產量達到24萬輛新車，預計將在2012年下半年落成竣工投產，投產初期的年產能為六萬輛新車，相關投資金額約11.5 億元人民幣。
此外東風本田宣布這家第二工廠將在環保節能方面具備重大的突破，其中該廠將將首次利用太陽能電池為部分作業工序提供電力，該項每年就可減少五百公噸二氧化碳排放量，同時還將有效利用自然光與廢熱等大幅降低二氧化碳的排放。
在第二工廠竣工投產之前，東風本田還計劃從2010年初開始對現有工廠進行產能擴大，將年產能由現行的20萬輛提升至24萬輛，2012年第二整車廠投產後，東風本田的新車年總產能將達到30萬輛。
2009年東風本田新車總銷量達21.06萬輛，比2008年成長28.2%，並且連續五年創下歷史新高，東風本田第二工廠投產後，結合廣汽本田36萬產能與本田中國約五萬輛產能，HONDA整體在中國境內的汽車年總產能將達71萬輛。
