HONDA Freed也要Hybrid化！2011年春天日本生產開始

2008年5月在日本正式發表的Freed，是與Fit共用底盤所開發的小型休旅車，超過1年半的市場考驗仍人氣不減，不過HONDA可不以此為傲，甚至在Insight、CR-Z陸續問世，Fit Hybrid也即將於2010年秋天現身的情況下，將在2010底左右發表Freed Hybrid，並從2011年春天於日本琦玉製作所生產。
車身尺碼僅為4215×1695×1715mm的Freed，共有三排七座/八座與雙排五座兩種配置，雙滑門設計和寬敞多變的空間，加上可坐人的第三排座椅，讓這款以Fit底盤為基礎的小型Minivan成為市場寵兒，在日本短短兩星期訂單破萬，2009年總計銷售79,525輛，榮登日本新車銷售排行第七名，也是繼Fit、Insight後第三款熱賣車。當然Freed之所以獲得青睞，還有其經濟性與操控性，搭載直四1.5升的引擎不僅擁有118hp/6600rpm馬力和14.7kgm/4800rpm扭力，且配置能提升引擎順暢的CVT變速系統，故能創造16.4km/l的平均油耗。
不過HONDA自家研發的Hybrid系統IMA相當成熟，且節能環保已是目前的趨勢，因此HONDA決定將IMA系統裝載於這款售倒消費者歡迎的Freed上。然而要投入Freed Hybrid的生產，勢必要進行生產線調整，所以HONDA的鈴鹿製作所（位於三重縣鈴鹿市）負責馬達等Hybrid組件生產，位於琦玉縣狹山市的琦玉製作所則進行組裝，HONDA估計在Frdde Hybrid正式生產後因Hybrid組件需求度增加，得以有效降低生產成本，這對於HONDA來說可是能提高獲利，對於消費者而言可以更低價格享受Hybrid科技。
至於Freed Hybrid會不會有左駕版，目前HONDA正在評估中，不過若要進行右駕改左駕恐怕又是一大筆開銷，倘若需求量足以支撐生產開發成本，那麼Freed Hybrid左駕版就有希望了。
