Fit Hybrid頂替，HONDA Insight面臨開發中止危機？

當2009年第二代Insight問世時，HONDA可是寄予厚望，畢竟第一代誕生的1999年正值RV當道，油價對消費者來說根本不是問題，且HONDA是以試驗心態開發，在市場叫好不叫座下於2006年停產，現在第二代Insight也可能面臨後繼無人的危機，主要是HONDA還有一款價格更平易近人的Fit Hybrid！

早在2010年底AutoNet汽車日報曾報導有關第三代新Insight的開發訊息，當時所掌握訊息為新車型預計2013年第三季問世，配置重新設計的底盤平台和車體，引擎也升級為全新開發的代號AP2直列四缸1.5L引擎（壓縮比高達13.5），平均油耗更以挑戰40.0km/L為目標，同時外觀造型也更符合空氣力學，但現在卻出現改變，因為在HONDA審慎評估後第三代Insight恐怕會難產，除了消費者對於Fit Hybrid接受度更大，銷售量上也不敵TOYOTA Prius。
較Prius早三個月發表的Insight，銷售量大不如對手，其中最受人詬病莫過於動力上的不足，因為Insight的1.3L引擎僅有88hp馬力，不如Prius 1.8L心臟所輸出的99hp來得有力，且Insight與Prius的複合油電系統的總輸出馬力，也呈現88hp+14hp對上136hp的不對等數據，縱使2011年推出1.5L新動力，馬力也從111hp+14hp來應對，實際上卻難以挽救頹勢。所幸藉由Fit小改款順勢推出Fit Hybrid，讓HONDA在Hybrid領域同時顧到裡子和面子。同時和Fit Hybrid相比，Insight的成本要高出許多，相對的利潤也受到壓縮，因此在考量諸多不利情形下，HONDA必須忍痛中止下一代Insight的開發計畫。
其實這幾年HONDA在市場表現實在差強人意，撇開因天災造成的損失，雖然仍致力於動力科技，但產品競爭力不足且缺乏品牌個性最為人所詬病，因此要如何扭轉局勢，必將是HONDA接下來要努力思考的地方。而萬一Insight後繼無人，那空缺將由誰來取代？當然就是Fit Hybrid了！
