身為全球首款Hybrid雙座小跑車，但HONDA CR-Z的最大輸出僅有122hp/17.0kgm，與印象中的跑車似乎有著明顯落差。而根據最新消息指出，HONDA內部正在進行激烈討論，以決定是否要推出純汽油引擎動力版本的CR-Z！

全新開發的1.6L直四引擎除了CR-Z之外，還將普及至Fit、Civic及Accord等一般車型。

雖然是否會推出仍在未定之天，不過可能搭載的動力單元倒是已經先行流出，預計將是一具全新開發、目前尚未發表的1.6L直四渦輪增壓引擎，最大馬力約為160hp，搭配六速手排及輕量車身，動態表現值得期待，同時也可能將動力輸出再往上調整，推出最大馬力200hp的CR-Z Type-R！
此具全新的1.6L直四渦輪增壓引擎除了搭載於CR-Z之外，據傳也將陸續應用至Fit、Civic及Accord等車型之上，若此消息成真，代表HONDA將跟隨VW等歐系車廠的Downizing腳步，以小排氣量渦輪增壓引擎取代大排氣量汽油引擎，值得肯定。
