    全面提升產能與產品實力,HONDA大手筆投入3.6億美元升級美國俄亥俄廠區

為了加大北美市場的產量,並且使旗下車款擁有更佳的產品實力,HONDA決定投入3.6億美元(約台幣104.5億元),對旗下位於美國俄亥俄州的廠區進行升級來提高產能,同時將在當地建設旗下第一個風洞設施,期望藉此能夠藉由更精密的測試,使其下車款擁有更漂亮的風阻係數,並藉此達到更優秀的油耗表現。

在這筆相當龐大的投資當中,有1.6億美元是用在改善並提高East Liberty廠區的產能,另外還有6400萬美元是投資Marysville廠區;另外對於當地風洞測試設備的投資方面,HONDA目前在美國擁有一個半規格的測試設備,其預估造價為2500萬美元,而據傳未來將建造的全尺寸風洞設備,其造價將高達1億美元(約台幣29億元)。

據信HONDA之所以如此大手筆擴充北美俄亥俄廠區廠區,除了是為了提升其產品競爭力,更是有鑑於先前日本大地震所造成的零件短缺,進而導致各地產能的下降,所以打算擴大當地產能,以防類似情況再度發生今年一至七月,HONDA加拿大與墨西哥廠區的產能與去年同期相比下降了26%,從754,807輛下降至559,981輛。

此外,這3.6億美元還不包含對阿拉巴馬州Lincoln的9,400萬美元的投資計畫以及耗資八億美元的墨西哥小型車工廠建造計畫,而相較於其他主要競爭對手,如TOYOTA、NISSAN與HYUNDAI,HONDA是第一個在北美建立風洞測試設施的車廠,未來全新打造的風洞攝氏很可能會建置在HONDA北美Raymond研究設計中心,原廠方面也期待這項投資能夠讓旗下車款相較於其他廠牌更具有競爭實力。
