HONDA加碼投資北美廠5000萬美元，研發鋁製變速箱

鋁合金的可塑性非常高，被廣泛的利用在航太、電子、機械零組件與高科技設備等，而鋁合金的質量輕是一般鋼鐵的三分之一重，現在的汽車產業常常運用鋁合金在車身結構與輪圈上，但並未使用在汽車的內部的零組件，HONDA看準了鋁合金輕的特性，將在俄亥俄州的北美廠擴建並且利用鋁來製造變速箱。
根據HONDA官方消息指出，將投資美國俄亥俄州的廠房5000萬美元，並擴建約20萬平方英尺（6050坪）的廠房，從1996年開始HONDA開始生產自動變速箱，而現在技術與產量也逐漸上升，這次的投資計畫，在研發鋁製的變速箱與增加第三條變速箱的生產線，而這兩個業務加在一起將替當地創造超過100個就業機會。
在這次的投資，HONDA也將導入新的高科技技術在新的廠房，將實施新的熔鍊技術，這項技術可以提高熔鍊的效率並可減少能源的浪費，並且降低環境的污染。
目前HONDA在俄亥俄州的投資已經超過3.5億美元，陸續將建設許多廠房，而這些廠房陸續擴建完工後，俄亥俄州的廠房將成為HONDA在全球最大的汽車零組件生產廠。
