全球各大車廠，近幾年來無不為了開發替代性燃料動力而努力著，日前日本本田技研，便正式將即將上路進行長期運轉測試的FCX燃料電池車，交接給日本北海道地方政府，並且就在這個嚴寒的冬天開始進行運轉測試，燃料電池車普及化的目標又向前邁進了一些。
本田出租給北海道地方政府的這輛燃料電池車款FCX，除了將進行長期的試車之外，也將在北海道嚴寒的天候下接受考驗，由於北海道當地的冬季幾乎長達半年，對於燃料電池動力系統在特殊天候下的考驗，將極具參考意義與價值，也對於未來量產化將提供相當重要的相關實證資訊。
其實早在2002年12月，本田燃料電池車FCX，就已經交由日本政府內閣進行測試，當時車輛行駛的範圍限於東京都與都邊地區，並且與出光石油合作，去年12月則移往美國紐約進行過嚴寒測試，當時這輛車交由位於紐約的日本領事館使用，未來HONDA FCX將持續進行各種不同氣候環境的測試，從高達95度的酷暑到零下20度的嚴寒環境，以備將來量產動力系統參考。
