看不見的火燄最可怕，HONDA開發IndyCar賽車安全加油系統

美國有其獨特的文化，各類職業賽事林立，除了為人所熟知的NBA美國職籃球、MLB美國職棒大聯盟、NFL美式橄欖球、NHL職業冰球等賽事之外，在賽車領域也有IndyCar方程式賽車、NASCAR房車賽等，觀看職業運動幾乎就是美國人生活中一部份般的普遍。而為了提升IndyCar賽事的安全性，HONDA開發全新賽車安全加油系統。
IndyCar賽車添加的燃料是高純度酒精汽油，萬一在比賽或練習賽期間不慎有燃油外洩一遇到高溫排氣管便會輕易被引燃，可怕的是這些火燄是沒有顏色的，很難被肉眼所辨認，因此對維修區的工作人員相當地危險。而HONDA開發的全新賽車安全加油系統，便是為了防止此意外所開發。
美國HONDA與HPD本田性能開發部門(Honda Performance Development)聯發開發的賽車加油安全系統，包括燃料感測器、引擎與變速箱電子偵測等裝置，如果燃料添加尚未完成，能夠阻止車手進檔起步，進而減少發生油管被扯斷或燃油外洩可能產生的極大危險。
肇因於2008年美國利曼賽事進行期間發生的意外，讓HONDA從2009年便著手開發賽車加油安全系統，使用於IndyCar賽事獲得相當良好的成效，也讓賽車運動日益安全。
