8900轉的紅線區實在是令人興奮莫名

當HONDA S2000的轉速表指針略過6000轉後,任何人都無法忽視那狂暴的動力輸出。當右腳死命地踏在油門上,兩千c.c.的DOHC VTEC直列四缸引擎爆發出猛烈的聲浪,吸引著你及路人的注意。
這具引擎發起威來,比任何的野生動物都還要狂野,簡直不像是一具人類所製造的工藝品。與其說他是一具汽車用引擎,不如說他是一具超大排氣量的機車引擎。我們承認,他的運轉聲浪對耳朵的影響可能不太適合天天駕駛,因為不是受不了那高昂狂放的聲浪,就是會深深的愛上而陷入不可自拔。再來複習一下VTEC 這套HONDA的獨門暗器,這種兩段式的汽門開啟機構控制著進排氣門,他能在效率、廢氣排放、及性能間取得一個平衡點。換句話說,VTEC可以兼顧油耗及廢氣排放。

然而,HONDA的工程師表示,S2000這具引擎上的VTEC只針對性能做最佳化,一切都只為高轉速下的性能表現而來。這具輸出240匹的VTEC兩公升四缸引擎不只展現了高轉速時驚人的進排氣效率,其每公升120匹的輸出更是所有量產車引擎之最。

為了忍受如此高轉速下的輸出,S2000採用了鍛造的連桿,中空而剛性強的曲軸能夠提供充足的潤滑給VTEC機構,凸輪軸則以較不佔空間的齒輪來驅動。S2000引擎的汽缸壁使用一種特別的碳纖維及陶瓷的混合物材質,不僅質輕,而且有助傳熱。相對於S2000無可挑剔的高轉速表現,其低轉速表現就不是那麼的令人滿意。但是只要轉速一過六千轉,那種洶湧澎湃、無邊無際的動力立刻讓你忘掉他低轉速的表現。隨著轉速的再升高,一山還有一山高的馬力彷彿無止境的灌注到後輪上,直到九千轉為止。HONDA的工程師號無疑問的創造了世界上最刺激的四缸引擎。
