下一代S2000縮小了，HONDA鎖定MAZDA Roadster

AutoNet先前曾報導過HONDA已經胎死腹中的S2000 Tyoe R計畫消息，現在又掌握到最新獨家訊息，就是S2000的後繼車仍持續進行中，且在2008年就會問世。
根據AutoNet所獲得的最獨門且最機密消息，下一代S2000的頭號目標鎖定在MAZDA Roadster，因此車身尺碼將在4000×1730×1250mm左右，比現行款來得更小，軸距則為2400mm，雖然變小，但因採用電動折疊硬頂收納式敞篷設計，因此重量將達1250公斤。以這樣的架構來看，定位上似乎更貼近1962年的S500。而底盤結構與懸吊系統，可能有部分將沿用現行S2000，因此在操控靈活度與樂趣上依然存在，但將更為提升。
而動力方面則以Civic Type R的K20A為基礎，並重新設計為FR專用模式，1998cc的排氣量可發揮200-220hp馬力，扭力值約落在22.0-23.0kgm，並和六速手排作組合；當然最先進的Advanced VTEC仍為標準行頭，除了達到低油耗，更可在全速域獲得充沛功率輸出。
不過與現行S2000的銷售族群，HONDA在日本國內鎖定團塊世代，也就是從今年起陸續退休的菁英們，衝著有錢又有閒的退休生活，希望能讓這群社會菁英享受駕駛樂趣，所以售價上估計為日幣300萬元左有，約合新台幣95萬元，算起來還不貴，但引進台灣恐怕身價就漲一倍以上囉！
