HONDA S2000後繼車1-2年後確定量產，2.0升心臟轉速最高9000rpm！

於千禧年誕生的S2000，可是HONDA展現跑車實力的產品，無論在操控性能、樂趣乃至於改裝空間，都造成車壇一陣譁然，縱使在2008年之前歷經兩次小改款，並進行動力心臟的調校，但對市場來說新鮮度略嫌不足，因此原廠正積極投入開發後繼車款的事宜，最快2009年就可看到雛型。
雖然S2000在推出後造成轟動，然而雙門雙座敞篷設計，再加上不算便宜的身價，跑車市場雖比起SUV當道時要許成長，但歐美日競爭對手越來越多，且2006年起能源危機正式浮出檯面，並需要面對各國日漸嚴苛的環保法規，因此讓HONDA一度決定不再研發S2000的後繼車種。不過歐美日等國家的戰後嬰兒潮已陸續退休，而四大金磚的消費能力驚人，HONDA於2007年中便成立研發小組，預計在2009或2010年左右讓全新S2000後繼車登場。
根據了解，其實S2000後繼車的底盤平台結構將與下一代NSX共用，不過軸距上會縮小許多，原本電動軟頂的設計將由硬頂摺疊式取代，所以能同時擁有雙門與敞篷的型態；內裝座椅則從雙座變成2+2，但HONDA為了搶攻中高價位市場，目前純正四座也納入考慮規劃中。而動力方面將搭載2.0升自然進氣最強的F20C引擎，運轉紅線區可達9000rpm，估計具有270hp/32.0kgm的實力，六速手排與五速手自排都會是變速系統的選擇。
早在多年前就曾傳聞S2000後繼車將採用Hybrid系統，並具有四輪驅動功能，然而隨著TOYOTA與SUBARU將共同開發FR小跑車，NISSAN也積極投入Siliva後繼車發展行列，MITSUBISHI GTO、MAZDA RX-7等FR新跑車均陸續開發中，因此HONDA決定捨棄高成本的Hybrid，改以回歸到樂趣掛帥的FR模式，看來在2009-2010年日本跑車將會更加熱鬧。
