專注與McLAREN的合作，HONDA兩年內不會為其他F1車隊提供引擎

雖然今年的F1賽季才開始沒多久，但相信許多賽車迷已經等不及想要看到再度攜手的HONDA與McLAREN，在2015年賽季當中究竟會有什麼樣的火花。不過以引擎供應商身份重返F1之後，最令各方好奇的就是HONDA除了McLAREN之外，還會不會有其他的車隊客戶？
針對這個疑問，HONDA賽車部門總監新井康九在上海站當中的記者會表示，在2015年賽季HONDA並沒有為其他F1車隊提供賽車引擎的計畫，而這是由於HONDA希望在下個賽季能夠交出不錯的成果，所以現階段必須非常專注，所以在2015甚至是2016年，McLAREN都會是HONDA唯一的客戶。
當然以一個引擎供應商來說，HONDA也希望能夠提供給更多支車隊，藉此能夠獲取更廣泛的數據結果以及更高的效益，所以新井康九也表達出提供引擎給其他車隊的意願，但目前並沒有這項計畫，所以其他車隊若想用HONDA的引擎可能得等到2017年。而就目前來看，M-BENZ除了自家廠隊之外還擁有3個車隊客戶，FERRARI擁有2個車隊客戶，RENAULT則是有4個。
而對於HONDA來說，參加F1賽事除了提升形象之外，也是未來量產車新動力技術的試煉場，如今的F1追求極高的燃耗效率並具備高壓直噴科技，這與現階段量產車的發展相當一致，這點更是HONDA決定重返F1賽場的主要原因之一。
