    日本名車系列(168)-HONDA Prelude(1987-1991)

1987年4月9日在日本市場率先問世的第三代Prelude,車身造型承襲第二代的方正銳利線條,並以電影「地下室のメロディー」(地下室的旋律)主題曲當作廣告歌曲,不僅令人印象深刻,更讓Prelude站上雙門跑車銷售冠軍的寶座。

第三代Prelude可是有著全球首創的武器-機械式4WS四輪轉向系統,當方向盤進行轉向時後輪可藉由舵角對應設計,達到前論輪高達240度的角度,因此在靈活性與最小迴轉半徑(僅4.8公尺)多有幫助。動力上則搭載直四1958cc引擎,共有DOHC 16氣門PGM-FI電子噴射(145hp/6000rpm、17.8kgm/4500rpm)及SOHC 12氣門雙化油器(110hp/5800rpm、15.5kgm/4500rpm)兩種設定,並能選擇五速手排或四速自排兩種變速系統;底盤懸吊也變成前後雙A臂,這也奠定日後HONDA等於高靈活操控的基礎。

針對第三代Prelude,HONDA共進行兩次小改款,一次在1988年8月,增加Si特別式樣,另一次為1989年11月21日,更動幅度不小,將原本啟閉式頭燈變成固定式(因美國和加拿大部分地區規定白天車燈必須恆亮),遂衍生出類似Accord車頭的Prelude inx,由於整體造型更為成熟,因此將高年齡層消費者設定為銷售目標。同時HONDA也增加Si-TCV等級,將LSD、ABS、4WS當作標準配備,希望藉此提升戰力與NISSAN S13 Silvia相抗衡。

1990年10月,HONDA為了刺激買氣,於日本推出總計限定3000輛的「Si States」,動力上搭載2.1升引擎,座椅部分採用高級材質的麂皮/皮革,並打出與北美式樣相同的行銷手法,果然吸引許多消費者注意,在短短的三個月內銷售一空。
