歷經五年後Accord終於在1981年推出第二代車型,並發展出雙生兄弟車Vigor,由於第一代的三門掀背和四門造型受到市場熱烈歡迎,因此HONDA延續這樣的設定,並導入更多先進的動力科技,以及舒適便利配備,同時也在美國俄亥俄州進行生產。

共有三門掀背和四門兩種形態的第二代Accord,造型上比起第一代要來得更洗鍊,並以附上整合燈罩取代四圓燈,且將方向燈整合在頭燈兩側,辨識度和美感全面提升;而與車身同色的後視鏡罩初期位在引擎蓋兩側,爾後基於美觀和潮流的前提下改在A柱旁。不過三門和四門在B柱前結構與造型完全相同,為了做出區隔,遂在1983年的小改款時針對水箱護罩、引擎蓋、頭燈組進行重新修改。如果和第一代相比,在軸距延長70mm達2450mm後,三門掀背獲得4210×1650×1335mm尺碼,四門房車則為4410×1650×1375mm,前後輪距也都增加20mm,這樣的結果讓車艙空間更為寬敞,對乘員來說壓迫感降低舒適性明顯升級。

動力的重點仍延續第一代的CVCC II複合渦流混合燃燒配置,採用排氣量1601cc(EP型)與1750cc(EK型)兩具SOHC直列四缸單化油器引擎,馬力輸出分別為90hp/5300rpm、97hp/5300rpm,扭力則是13.5kgm/3500rpm、14.3kgm/3500rpm,五速手排為標準配置,同時也提供三速自排列為選配(1982年從三速自排進步到四速自排)。1983年藉由小改款之際,HONDA換上性能升級的1.6L(EY型)和1.8L(ES型/12氣門)引擎,馬力分別提升至94hp、110hp。不過真正讓Accord進入噴射時代,則是1984年增加具備PGM-F1電子控制燃油噴射系統的1829cc引擎,輸出功率提升為130hp/5800rpm、17.0kgm/4500rpm,如此優異的表現除了讓消費者對HONDA更具信心,也成為日後奠定動力科技的基礎。

由於搭載前後麥弗懸吊底盤結構,使得操控性和舒適性都讓人滿意。充滿跑車風格的內裝鋪陳,可是具備許多同級對手車所沒有的奢華配備,如電動調整後視鏡、定速巡航、檔位顯示幕等,其他如音響、空調、電動窗、電動天窗也都納入清單中;甚至全球第一套車用衛星導航,也成為Accord的選用配備。隨著1985年進入大改款週期,第三代Accord也在重新定位並導入更具特色的風格,傳承第二代路線繼續在全球市場發光發熱。
