    日本名車系列(272):HONDA S-MX(1996-2002)

以第六代Civic底盤為基礎所創造的S-MX,是HONDA為吸引年輕族群並寄予厚望的車款,雖說1996年誕生時曾創造一股流行風潮,但時間卻非常短暫,導致最終在2002年全面停產。

外型稜角分明的S-MX,擺明就是針對年輕族群所設計的高頂掀背車,也是將SUZUKI Solio視為頭號假想敵的產品,除了一般的3950×1695×1750mm車身尺碼,另外還有降低車身的選擇,高度降為1735mm,此外「左二右一」的不對稱車門設計為最大特色,雖然軸距達2500mm,卻也因此讓空間受限,初期僅能容納四名乘員,爾後則變成五人座設定。

動力搭載一具1972cc直列四缸DOHC引擎,一開始擁有130hp/5500rpm馬力和18.7kgm/4200rpm扭力,2000年小改款時提升為140hp/5500rpm、19.0kgm/4200rpm功率輸出,並採用方向機柱式的四速自排變速箱,基本款為前輪驅動,HONDA也提供非全時四輪驅動車型給消費者購買。雖然和Civic共用底盤,卻未採用前後雙A臂懸吊,而是將後輪改成拖曳臂式,除了結構上的考量,主要仍在成本,畢竟S-MX的終極目標就是讓年輕人都買得起。

可惜S-MX生不逢時,日本經濟進入黑暗期,年輕人不僅對用車的觀念改變,也無力購買,縱使有一小群支持者,卻仍無法讓HONDA投入資金開發後繼車,因此在2002年結束產品週期,但從此卻成為中古市場的寵兒,據說車未落地已有買家捧著鈔票求售!
